The existing structure-imposed challenges on the MEP coordination but these were overcome with close team collaboration maximising floor to ceiling heights with exposed / semi exposed MEP systems.
Our brief includes replacement of the entire MEP systems and vertical transportation to provide a high efficiency BCO compliant and flexible environment to BREEAM Excellent rating.
The extensions to 7 Newgate Street have been designed as a sensitive response to both the host building and local context. Simple, contemporary additions and upgrades have been made to the building that avoid diverging too much from the existing architectural fabric. The existing 7th floor plantroom is to be altered and extended to form a pavilion space that will retain some of the existing metal cladding to the party wall with Cutler’s Hall and introduce a new timber framework with slimline glazing units to provide a simple, well detailed extension that sits comfortably as viewed from the surrounding context.
